QUESTION:

[ Software ] Open Question : family tree maker 2008. please help?


i have brought family tree maker 2008 but it wont let me register it. it says “There was a problem connecting to the registration server. please check your internet connection and try again or close this dialog and register later”. i have tried to register for about 3 days and i have looked at my firewall settings but it still wont let me register

    This problem was making me crazy! I finally downloaded an update to my 2008 Family Tree Maker and that did the trick. Open your FTM and look in the help menu to see what version you have. (at the bottom of the help menu where it says “about”.) If the version number is lower than 17.0.0.965, you need the patch.     One note: once I installed the patch, the software no longer listed the name of my file on the right hand side to click and open. I used the file menu to open and locate my file. If you have not entered any family data yet that won’t be an issue.

      I am still having this problem. It let me register once and then when it took me to the activation for the free search period it wouldn’t activate it and now it won’t connect again. any ideas on how to fix this problem and get it working properly would be appreciated.
