[ Higher Education (University +) ] Open Question : Are media studies and mass communication interchangeable within a bachelor of arts degree?
I’m going to be entering my freshman year of college next year, and I want to be a film major possibly or in something with mass communication. Now, when I read the course descriptions for the different colleges, they say I can earn a bachelor of arts degree in mass communication, or some other schools in media study, or some others film study, or some film, some tv/digital film, etc. usually depending on the course title. My question is, do these differences in the studies matter when applying for a media job of some sort, or is it the BA that really matters? I mean, would I get denied a tv job for example if I studied media studies instead of mass communication, or film studies instead of the former etc, or is it really the fact that it was that similar area and the BA that matters?
